Why regular servicing of your Boiler is so important.

Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas which is a product of incomplete burning of gas sometimes found in a faulty appliance. If breathed in it is harmful and if absorbed into the body in sufficient quantities (less that you think!) it can result in death.
Many people are not aware of the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning because early symptoms can be easily be confused with flu like symptoms, food poisoning, or other illnesses. Common flu symptoms are similar at first to early low level signs of carbon monoxide poisoning, for example, tiredness, headaches, dizziness or nausea.

A well maintained gas boiler will continue to serve the customer with reliability, efficiency and ultimately the safe operation of the appliance. Giving your boiler an annual service provides protection for you and your family and a health check for the appliance.

Besides having an annual service with a Gas Safe professional to check over your appliances, a carbon monoxide detector can be installed to watch over the levels of carbon monoxide in your home throughout the year.

BOILERS for the technophobes.

Condensing boilers get their name because they condense periodically. In other words, they extract heat from the exhaust gases that would otherwise escape through the flue - turning water vapour from the gas back into liquid water or condensate.
A condensing boiler captures much more usable heat from its fuel than a non-condensing boiler.
Its high operating efficiency is made possible by the design of the condensing boiler's larger - or sometimes dual - heat exchanger. The heat exchanger makes sure that as much heat as possible is transferred from the boiler's burner - and as little as possible lost in gases through the flue.
There are two types of condensing boiler: regular and combination. Regular condensing boilers heat your hot water through a hot water cylinder. Combination condensing boilers give you instant hot water without the need for a cylinder.
The best temperature for boilers to condense is between 55 & 57 degrees Celsius, this is all taken care of by the boilers in built computer.
